Prologue

Let me first explain you some things.

First, why did I choose this topic for my blog?

Well, things are changing. Everywhere. And we can no longer keep on holding pace alone. We do (and can) not have the knowledge, the experience and the capabilities to work on our own any more. Regardless of what our job is about. Wether we are Project Manager, Subject Matter Expert, Head of Whatever or Boss himself.

So, we have to (re)learn to work and learn togehter. Get out of our silos, connect, share, generously help others and start to collaborate (which is so much more than cooperate). Wow, what a big thing, to help this change taking place in our cultures, organizations, teams, heads …

In my job at Swisscom, as well as in my activities outside my work, these issues are driving, no they are thrilling me. There is so much to learn from my Personal Learning Network, I want to seek, sense, share and discuss with anybody else, dedicated to Social Collaboration as well. A blog seems to be a good way, to start thinking and working out more loudly. And to exchange with others.

Second, why - the hell - does this have to be in english?

Now, that’s a good question, as english is not my mother tongue and everything but perfect (even though it was one of my subjects at University some generations ago). Well, as my network grows, there are more and more people, who do not understand german (and I would not understand their language very well). So I decided to take our lingua franca to share my thoughts, experiences, ideas, activities, fails and whatever else with you. And hey, if your mother tongue is not the english language, then just take the challenge to improve your language skills.

Right. Enough explanations for this first blog post. See you soon.
